98) SUPPORTING STATEMENT OF CHRIS RUNNER.

e-mail received October 3, 2007:

"I have the highest regard for Dr. Sharsmith and your continuing efforts; we will prevail in time.  For me, Carl dates back to the Tuolumne days of 1964 or earlier.  Our family used to sit around waiting for food to cook at Mort [Gene] Hemple’s woodstove in Ranger Camp, plus I was a ranger in Yosemite from 1983 to 1994, so I know the tradition and the nationally significant contribution of Carl.  Per your request, I am preparing a supporting statement for USGS in support of this naming. What date for submission should I be sure to meet? (not that this will go away until accomplished)."
